FULL — PRESS KIT

Hailing from London, JUMA HASSAN has spent over 15 years digging, collecting, and moving dancefloors. He cut his teeth across the UK circuit, earning a spot behind the decks at the iconic Ministry of Sound in central London, and held regular residencies on the airwaves with Noods Radio in Bristol and Balamii in London.

Known today for transcendent techno and throbbing, seductive house sets, his native tongue was deep drum & bass laced with breakbeat undertones — a head-nod to the post-dub jungle scene that shaped his ear.

Beyond the booth, he built a reputation as a scene architect — running multiple music and events outfits across London and Bristol. Higher State London delivered a run of concept event series in the years before Covid, while Sweet Talk Music gave newcomer DJs a platform to build their own concept events, with deep ties to London's B-Boy and street dance communities.

Post-Covid, he relocated to Asia, first landing in Bali, where he plugged into a global community of artists and musicians, playing venues, events, and festivals across the island — including Bali Bloom Festival. From there he found his way into Thailand's underground dance music community, playing and running events on Koh Phangan and in Bangkok.

Years of travelling, playing, and connecting across the region culminated in Hanoi — where JUMA stepped up as vocalist on a trance-techno collaboration with a Vietnamese artist. More than a track, it marked what his journey through Asia had become: not just playing scenes, but actively bridging them — discovering talent, forging connections between communities, and creating space for artists to express themselves.

That mission now has a home: sceneselecta.com — a music community and media platform connecting Asia's underground. Now based in Kuala Lumpur, JUMA HASSAN is taking it on the road with a series of launch events across the region, spotlighting the artists and scenes that shaped the journey.
